Al-Mustaqbal University took part in an informative workshop organized by Clarivate on Journal Citation Reports (JCR) – 2025 Release (2024 Data), delivered by Anas Obaid, Senior Customer Success Consultant. The workshop highlighted the most important updates introduced in the new release, including the addition of the Cited Half-life metric and the exclusion of citations from retracted or withdrawn publications in calculating the Journal Impact Factor (JIF). It also addressed the importance of safeguarding research integrity by tackling issues such as coercive citations, predatory journals, citation markets, and unethical authorship practices. In addition, participants were introduced to practical ways of utilizing JCR data, such as identifying suitable journals for publication, supporting academic libraries, and making evidence-based decisions regarding open access strategies. The workshop further demonstrated the integration of JCR data with research systems through APIs such as Web of Science and InCites. Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in this workshop reflects its commitment to staying aligned with the latest developments in research evaluation and scholarly publishing, while reinforcing its position in advancing academic excellence and global rankings.
